I saw Joe for physical therapy after both of my left hip surgeries, the first being in December 2022. The second was September 2025. Joe and the entire staff (especially Adam) provide outstanding care. They not only treat your injury, they treat you as a human being. Everyone is kind, personable, and professional. It takes great skill to make a patient actually look forward to physical therapy. I will forever be grateful for this team helping me get on my feet (literally and figuratively) so quickly!

First time PT goer. I felt relaxed and in good hands. Staff were professional, kind and funny at times! Highly recommend going to them.

My experience at PTSMC in Naugatuck was nothing short of excellent. The office staff, Physical therapists and assistants were all awesome. My therapist Xavier Gibson treated me with kindness and care from the moment I walked in. He listened to every one of my concerns and worked with me until I felt better. I will always choose PTSMC of Naugatuck for my physical therapy needs in the future. Special shout out to Adam who was also great.

This is the third time I have used Physical Therapy and sports medicine. Xavier and Adam helped me with my physical therapy on my knee and Joe Helped me when I had vertigo. The staff are all very helpful and extremely friendly. I would recommend them to anyone!!!

Years ago I went to a different outpatient therapy center and felt it was a waste of time. I was apprehensive going again when my doctor suggested it for my back pain. I’m glad I gave it a shot. Both my wife and friend spoke highly of Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers. It only made sense to go there based on their recommendations. Megan was my PT. She’s amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and did I mention she’s amazing? I felt immediate relief and while I still had some hurting days, it progressively got better. The at home exercises in conjunction to her treatments made a big difference. I am no longer going for therapy but will certainly be back, if the time comes. THANK YOU!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to the staff at PTSMC Naugatuck! Xavier is just awesome. He’s caring and personable but also makes you put in the work. The staff from Deborah at the front desk to the PT Aides, Adam, Rose and Lianne are all so welcoming and work so well together to help not only the patients but each other. It’s a great environment. I’ve also seen Meghan as a patient and she is wonderful. I have seen Becky and Joe in action and they are great as well. If you need PT, this is the place to go!

Joe and his team at PT SMC are great at what they do I didn't finish pt 2yrs ago after rotator cuff surgery and my range of motion was horrible I thought it would get there on its own MISTAKE !!! thankfully I was able to get back with Joe and after 2 weeks already feeling less stiff better range of motion already !! They really know what they're doing !! Couldn't be happier with PT&SMC !!!😊

I have seen Megan, Becky and more often Joe at the clinic.
Adam and the other PT Aides are also very good to assist you in going over all your exercises while you’re there.
They are all very patient, kind, professional and compassionate Physical Therapists. I highly recommend them. There’s also a new and highly competent Physical therapist that joined in the summer. I’ve heard he’s also wonderful 😀.
Deb and Alexis assist in scheduling and delegate with insurance companies to facilitate in making your appointments at this Clinic. Thank you all for making it a comfortable place to go to.

Every staff is so gracious, polite,kind and patient. They have been very attentive and do not rush you through your exercises. If ANY of the staff are not working hands on with someone,then they are cleaning all equipment. I HIGHLY recommend them!

Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Center, Naugatuck is quite exceptional.
Here they provide very effective and efficient care that brings you back to your full physical potential in much less time than you thought. I was immediately scheduled for a thorough initial assessment and had brought my Surgeons' recommendations as well as pictures of scans which can sometimes help determine your specific needs. Falling 12 feet onto a wooden deck in May, I sustained significant trauma with a severe multi fractured pelvis which completely severed the sacrum posteriorly,  coupled with anterior fractures that disrupted the entire pelvic ring.  This de stabilizes all gait and balance, as well as, disturbing the entire frame and parts of the lower body and spine.  This type of injury requires a Physical Therapist that is extremely confident and competent.  Complicating the rehabilitation further for me were twelve fractured ribs and a displaced fractured shoulder.
I was very surprised that my pain was significantly reduced after just one week.
Their expertise is revealed in how quickly I see results, such as using a cane less and less.
Meghan has been responsible for creating therapy that is continually evolving.
My rapid progress, confirmed by intermittent measurements, is based on her strategy of continually modifying exercises.  Each session is personally guided but the entire Team is involved and constantly monitoring safety for all.
I have profound respect for the Naugatuck Team and grateful for their exceptional ability which surpassed my expectations by far.

I wanted to write this review before I moved on like we all do sometimes because life moves to fast. I wanted to publicly thank Joe and and his team at Physical Therapy And Sports Medicine on Prospect Street in Naugatuck for the rehabilitation they gave me after my total knee replacement. Joe is an intuitive and sports minded therapist and able to determine a care plan based on the whole picture of a patient. As a nurse, I appreciate his high level of patient care. Joe (and his team) treated me as a whole person and not just "a knee". I'd like to thank Bethany for her excellent advice helping me recognize a few key deficits in my gait. Adam, who was able to anticipate my impatience to "finish the workout" and paced my sessions like a coach! Megan, who gave me a thoughtful perspective and guidance on a number of concerns. Deborah, who works with a smile on her face and Rose who only has to smile to add warmth to your day! If I have forgotten anybody I'm sorry, but this was my A Team. Thank you so much for your help.

PS: This physical therapy center is also in a cool building that used to be an elementary school back in the day. Joe has a lot of historical things around the office that are worth looking at. I particularly like the picture of the schools around Naugatuck in the evaluation room and the commemorative American flags and where in the world they have flown over.

The staff here are awesome. From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave. I’m having PT after left full knee replacement and the results so far are great. The one on one attention really makes a difference. I would highly recommend coming here if you need PT.

Everyone is knowledgeable, kind, and caring. Truly an amazing place

It was one of the situations that I started to go to physical therapist and my ankle kid got infected and I had to stop. I was really surprised yesterday when I received a call from the receptionist just to ask me how I was doing I called that great customer service everyone there was pleasant help me get my realtor in the car. Did everything for me that I needed. I will definitely highly recommend.

Rebecca is an excellent physical therapist, her CHT specialty experience was exactly what I needed after my forearm surgery. She is very knowledgeable, personable, and takes the time to listen and explain. In a short time her therapy reduced my recovery pain and improved my ROM. Her encouragement, professionalism and advice are much appreciated.

I have been going for physical therapy 3 days a week for the last month and a half with all the exceptional people who work here. Each person brings forth their knowledge/wisdom/ expertise/ helpfulness and yes, laughs making the physical therapy experience a more enjoyable atmosphere/experience. Their ability to listen to my concerns and guide me through the healing process has been wonderful. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of physical healing.
