Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy at PTSMC Southington

PTSMC offers Aquatic Physical Therapy at our Southington location, where Partner and Director Peter Cambi and his team provide skilled physical therapy in an aquatic environment, typically as part of a comprehensive physical therapy program. The unique properties of the aquatic environment enhance interventions for certain patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular/pulmonary, and integumentary diseases, disorders, or conditions. Aquatic therapy can also be an effective approach to post-operative rehabilitation. If your doctor has recommended aquatic therapy after surgery, you can come to PTSMC Southington for a private session in our very own therapeutic pool!
By receiving your treatment in water that is maintained at therapeutic temperatures, you will be able to move with less pain and more control as your body is partially supported by the buoyancy of water.
Aquatic Therapy can treat a variety of medical conditions and diseases, including:
- Arthritis
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Stroke
- Muscular Dystrophy
- General pain and injury in individuals who struggle with mobility
As the water supports your weight, you are able to function at levels that are not possible outside of this environment, which encourages increased mobility, flexibility and strength. The ultimate goal of aquatic therapy is to progress patients to a land-based physical therapy program.
